Eurovision Song Contest is not your average show. Thousands of fixtures, one live broadcast to all of Europe — and no room for error. For every act and every lighting cue, MA Lighting is the go-to tool for the talented design team around Tim Routledge.
In this seminar session, we take a closer look at how MA Lighting is used: from the overall system architecture and programming workflow to the execution of live show cues during the broadcast. We explore how lighting designers, programmers, and operators prepare for a production of this scale, how redundancy and backup systems are implemented, and how complex visual looks are created and adapted for dozens of unique performances.
Rather than focusing on theory, this session offers a practical behind-the-scenes insight into the real workflow used at Eurovision. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the technical setup, the creative decision-making process, and the challenges involved in delivering one of the world’s largest live entertainment events without interruption.
